The collection primarily consists of 1,882 book and serial titles, each cataloged in the Concordia University Libraries online catalog. All of the major science fiction authors are represented, often with first editions. Another part of the collection consists of articles torn from magazines by and about science fiction writer Ray Bradbury, but including also illustrator Hannes Bok and others. A major portion of the articles are photocopies of the original articles.

The Concordia University Libraries is the owner of the materials in the Robert W. Chambers Science Fiction Collection and makes available reproductions for research, publication, and other uses. Written permission must be obtained from the Concordia University Libraries before any reproduction use. Copyright resides with the creator of the documents or their heirs. The status of copyright is governed by the Copyright Law of the U. S. (Title 17, U.S.C.). In some cases, permission for use may require seeking additional authorization from the copyright owners.

Because so much of the collection is in photocopy format, responsibility for observing all rules and regulations concerning copyright falls on the user of the materials.

Biographical note

Robert W. Chambers was a resident of Coos Bay, Oregon. He scoured bibliographies and booksellers' catalogs for books and articles on science fiction and fantasy literature. His goal apparently was to create a comprehensive science fiction collection, and especially to collect everything he could find by and about Ray Bradbury. He was born in 1933 and died in 2008.

Arrangement

Series 1 consists of books and journals on shelves arranged by call number. Series 2 consists of boxes with articles in folders.
