Liturgical music compositions
Scope and Contents
The major portion of the collection consists of his unpublished lectionary entitled, Lectionary and Book of Pericopes for the Church Year, Incorporating Materials Published by the Lutherische Liturgische Konferenz Deutschlands (Lutheran Liturgical Conference of Germany), Edited and Adapted for Use in Churches Using the Lutheran Book of Worship. When Zion German Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brooklyn, New York, transitioned from German services to both German and English services, the question arose as to which lectionary to use -- German or English. The decision was made to produce an English version of the German Perikopenbuch mit Lektionar on the basis of the 1995 5th edition published in Hanover by Lutherisches Verlagshaus. Most of the material in the Perikopenbuch formed the basis of the new lectionary, but many refinements from the Lutheran Book of Worship were incorporated so that the lectionary would be useful for other Lutheran congregations as well. The introduction offers a detailed account of the origin and structure of the Lectionary.
Included also in the papers are sample worship bulletins, extant essays on theological and liturgical topics, and some of his liturgical music compositions.
