The records contain the correspondence of The Rev. H. H. Koppelmann, predominantly to the Mission Board of the District. Early letters are in German with a transliteration and translation, probably by Carl F. Nitz. Brief biographical information is also included.

Biographical note:

The Rev. Henry H. Koppelmann was born 1877 December 21 to Herman and Anna (Mueller) Koppelmann in Long Island, New York. He graduated Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, in 1901 and was ordained in the same year. He served parishes in Sandy Oregon (1901-1904); Payette, Idaho (1904-1909); and Zion Lutheran Church, Portland, Oregon (1909-1942). He served on various Boards and Committees of the Oregon and Washington District (now Northwest District), including the Mission Board, Finance Board, Board of Trustees, and Church Extension Board. He also served on the Board of Regents of Concordia University, Portland, Oregon. He married Elizabeth Schlichting in 1905 (she died 1915) and Louis Pannier in 1917. He died 1942 February 17.
