Biographical note:
Adolph Karl Engel was born in Hanover, Pennsylvania, 1876 August 6, to Adolph and Margaretha Engel. He graduated Concordia College, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; he graduated Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, and was ordained in 1899 at Luce, Nebraska. He resigned from the ministry in the following year for health reasons. In his professional life he was an auditor for the Great Northern Railway and the Northern Pacific Railway until 1947. He was a charter member of and an organist for Hope Lutheran Church, Seattle, Washington; he assisted in the establishment of new missions and was active in the Lutheran Laymen's League. In 1912 he was elected Treasurer of the Oregon-Washington District (now Northwest District) of the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod and served in that capacity until his death in 1957 December 31. He married Alma Fedder in 1909.
