Biographical note:
The Rev. Edmund H. Brandt was born 1866 November 16 to August and Anna Zobel Brandt in Sebewaing, Michigan. He graduated Concordia College, Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and in 1911 Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri. He was ordained shortly thereafter. He became the first resident Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod Pastor in Canada, serving in Vancouver, British Columbia, from 1911-1918. From 1918-1921 he was Pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Everett, Washington. In 1921 he was called to Concordia College (High School), Portland, Oregon, where he taught English, Latin, and Greek until his retirement in 1958. He also served briefly as librarian. At the same time, he was on the Mission Board of the Northwest District of The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod from 1930-1942, and served briefly in the Public Relations Department. He married Ida Benz 1911 September 7. He died in Portland, Oregon, 1962 October 25.
