Scope and Contents
The records consist almost entirely of his correspondence during his term of office as President of the Northwest District, 1982-1994. Also included is brief biographical information and the memoirs of his ministry in the District, entitled, Northwest District--LCMS Service, 1972-1994 : Preparatory to and the Presidency of Rev. Dr. Erhart L. Bauer.

The Northwest District Archives is the owner of the materials in the Erhart L. Bauer Collection and makes available reproductions for research, publication, and other uses. Use of the collection is restricted, because some of the correspondence might be considered confidential; permission for use must be obtained from the Archivist. Written permission must be obtained from the Northwest District Archives before any reproduction use. Copyright resides with the creator of the documents or their heirs. The status of copyright is governed by the Copyright Law of the U. S. (Title 17, U.S.C.). In some cases, permission for use may require seeking additional authorization from the copyright owners.
Biographical note:
The Rev. Dr. Erhart L. Bauer graduated in 1959 from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri. He served parishes as Pastor in Elk River, Minnesota; Pocatello, Idaho; and Yakima, Washington. While serving as a Pastor in the Northwest District, he served on various committees and as a Vice President. From 1982-1994 he was President of the Northwest District. In 1994, under the auspices of the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod's Board for Mission Services, he began a mission in Jamaica and served there until 1999. Subsequently he served the Northwest District in various capacities. He married Anita Frick in 1960.
