The records consist almost entirely of his correspondence during his term of office as President of the Northwest District, 1982-1994. Also included is brief biographical information and the memoirs of his ministry in the District, entitled, Northwest District--LCMS Service, 1972-1994 : Preparatory to and the Presidency of Rev. Dr. Erhart L. Bauer.

Biographical note:

The Rev. Dr. Erhart L. Bauer graduated in 1959 from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri. He served parishes as Pastor in Elk River, Minnesota; Pocatello, Idaho; and Yakima, Washington. While serving as a Pastor in the Northwest District, he served on various committees and as a Vice President. From 1982-1994 he was President of the Northwest District. In 1994, under the auspices of the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod's Board for Mission Services, he began a mission in Jamaica and served there until 1999. Subsequently he served the Northwest District in various capacities. He married Anita Frick in 1960.
