Historical note

Forward In Remembrance, a project of the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod, was conceived to raise $75 million to support overseas missions, to assist Districts with special projects, and to assist church work students. The congregational phase began in 1980. A final report to the Synod appeared dated May 28, 1982.

Catch the Vision of His Mission, also known as the Cooperative Funding Project, was a Northwest District project. After initial feasibility exploration, the program was designed for local congregations to raise money for themselves, for the Northwest District, and for Concordia University. Initial activities were done under the leadership of Don J. Pinson Associates. In December, 1990, the contract with Pinson was terminated. The program was revised to use current staff to carry out the various aspects of the program under the Northwest District Planned Giving Counselor, Wade Janssen, as coordinator. Janssen made a financial report to the District Board of Directors on February 17, 1992, and a final report to the Board at their meeting on August 31 to September 1, 1992.
