Historical note

In 1941 Col. L. W. Meinzen from Vancouver, WA, actively promoted the LLL and interest grew. The Washington District was formally organized at a meeting on November 2, 1945, in Seattle, Washington and became incorporated in 1958. Alaska was added to the District in 1996.

Valley Camp (sometimes written VaLLLey Camp), located near North Bend, WA, was founded in 1956 as a recreation and retreat center and subsequently given to the District . It was owned and operated by the Washington District until 2002 when it was deeded to the Chapel of the Cross located within the camp.
